Meet Diane

Diane BrownDiane Brown is the founder of Protocol Solutions, LLC.   She combines her extensive military and government background with her in-depth leadership knowledge and protocol skills to provide consulting and training opportunities designed to enhance global business relationships and successfully manage high profile events.   Ms. Brown is the former Deputy Director of Protocol for the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Pentagon, Washington D.C.

Notable events for which Diane had responsibility include:

  • Nationally televised Memorial Service attended by more than 20,000 guests to include the President and First Lady honoring the Pentagon victims of the September 11th, terrorist attack
  • Pentagon Observance Ceremony and the Armed Forces Funeral at Arlington National Cemetery one year after the attack
  • State Funerals of President Reagan and President Ford.
  • Protocol advisor on the first America Supports You Freedom Walk in Washington D.C. in September 2005
  • Memorial Day Parade and the Air Force Memorial Dedication in 2006.
  • Director of Staff for the Air Force’s Chief of Staff Global Air Chief’s Conference (2007) hosting senior delegations from around the world.
  • Lead and coordination of the Department of Defense’s Memorial planning team in the historical dedication of the Pentagon Memorial

As a champion for continuing education of the protocol professional, she is often referred to as an “Edutainer” and pioneer in the field of protocol training.   She was a key advisor and developer of the accredited two week Air Force Protocol Course instructed at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Dayton, Ohio.  Ms. Brown has presented programs for government executives, Fortune 500 companies and academia.   In November 2005, she was selected to train a protocol delegation from the Iraq National Assembly in Amman Jordan and recently provided programs in UAE and Turkey

A native of Punxsutawney Pennsylvania, she graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a bachelor’s degree in Human Services.  Throughout her military career, Ms. Brown was repeatedly recognized for leadership acumen, earning the prestigious Commandant’s Award, the John Levitow Honor Graduate and the Dick Scobey Leadership awards.  She is a graduate of George Washington University’s Event Management certificate program.  She is a founding board member of Protocol and Diplomacy International, Protocol Officers Association (PDI-POA), and received the PDI Spirit of Diplomacy Award in August 2005. She is an associate of The Protocol School of Washington.  She is a member of ASTD, SGMP, and PDI-POA.
